Dior Couture by Patrick Demarchelier

post by Gloria Cases

Dior Couture by Rizzoli New York, was finally published last month . The book is a fine collaboration between famous French photographer Patrick Demarchelier and Interview magazine editor Fabien Baron. Clothing by Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan and John Galliano are seen throughout the pages with their most prominent couture designs that define Dior as the exquisite French fashion House it is, and creates an inexorable parallel between each garment.

Demarchelier captured over 200 pages of the beautiful essence of Dior Haute Couture from 1947 garments to the present. He wanted it to be everything but monotonous and unexciting. The book have a variety of wonderful locations like New York, London and Paris. Models like Sasha Pivovarova, Monika Jagaciak, Magdalena Frackowiak, Maryna Linchuk and many others wore over 100 pieces of fabulous designs to make this incredible piece of fashion history. Recently Demarchelier decided to give a slight preview of some of his work and described the designs with a genuine fascination. “When you’re a fashion photographer, you must inspire a dream, with Dior Haute Couture, the dream is already there".
