NYFW FALL 2014

By Bianca Nieves
The first week of our favorite time of the year already came and went, and even though Spring should be just around the corner, the Polar Vortex took over NYFW FALL 2014 to give us a glimpse and let our imagination run wild, as to how all of these decadent collections would look from the runway straight to the streets of the fashion capitol of the world.

1- ADEAMFor her first time in NYFW, Hanako Maeda, successfully crafted a collection where feminine forms won over our hearts with their blush pink and metallic colors. Every look was tailored seamlessly to femme fatale perfection.

2- Creatures of ComfortFor FW ’14 Creatures of Comfort took comfort to a whole new level. The whole collection, well suited for the urban woman, was decked with a vintage vibe full of intricate layering of oversized silky green, blissful black and pops of mustard yellow loveliness.

3- DEL POZOAnother rising brand that has left us in complete awe! Each look from the runway carefully graced a perfect mix between RTW and Haute Couture with their geometric silhouettes decked in gorgeous color combinations. It’s ridiculous to have to wait until FW ’14 to sport such faultless midi skirts and dresses!

4- J. CrewFor this collection, menswear was given an off-the-wall, preppy twist where dark colors were the perfect match for their texture frenzy.  Need we say much?

5- Jill StuartEdgy clashes of textiles and textures were the main opulence of Jill Stuart’s FW’14 collection. Dark hues overruled the runway in strappy, slim, furry and velvety goodness; completely embracing a go to look with no explanations needed.

6- Marissa WebbInspired by her own lifestyle, designer Marissa Webb displayed an army of gray, white and black hues blending in with bits and pieces of pink and red, in which tailed yet edgy ensembles came to life.

7- Michael KorsIn which Spring and Fall have made amends that portray a mature collection filled with easy going ensembles without freezing yourself to death. Bravo, Michael Kors for presenting such a wearable collection where suede, fringe and cotton flowyness have never looked so good.

8- Noor by Noor: Once again this rising design duo took NYFW by storm with their quirky, innovative, detail oriented designs. This time around they leaned towards and explosion of color while perfectly pairing darker accents to balance both femininity and masculinity just right.

9- Proenza SchoulerPrints.  Geometric. Voluminous.  Experimentation. Just a few key words to help us take in everything that was this incredible collection.  Every look was a perfectly built up puzzle that screamed playfulness and exoticness with their multi colored allure.

10- Tibi: Tibi's FW’14 collection is the perfect example for anything and everything RTW.  With its simple color palette and forms, they created cozy and casual pieces perfect to mix and match with other key garments in your wardrobe.
And now as LFW is happening whilst you Matte peeps read this, we can’t wait to see what else Milan and Paris have in store! Bring us more capes, more boots and, more structured, oversized pieces to snuggle up our anxiety until fall actually arrives!
